The Carousel Of Life

Our spinning thoughts can be like a carousel, moving endlessly but going nowhere when they are not submitted to the will of God. This painting is inspired by my journey of understanding broken souls and those who have experienced chronic trauma. Our identity in Christ and how God sees us is crucial; when we receive the revelation of who we truly are in Him, we find genuine freedom. In the painting, a woman wearing a gown symbolizes how God sees me—I am His bride, and He loves me deeply.

As Ephesians 5:25-27 beautifully states: “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.”

This truth liberates me from the lies the enemy has planted in my mind and from the false beliefs I held about myself for so long.

Notice the large head at the top of the carousel—it symbolizes the truth that when we fix our gaze on God and remain in His presence, we find freedom. The ground beneath is splitting and on the verge of crumbling, representing how God dismantles any foundation in our lives that is not built by Him. As we behold His glory, we are transformed and set free.

As 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “And we all, with unveiled faces, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” This transformation is a journey of moving from the lies to the truth, from brokenness to wholeness, all through the loving gaze of our Creator.
