"The High Priestly Prayer"

The High Priestly Prayer, drawn from John 17, captures Jesus' prayer before his arrest and crucifixion. This poignant prayer provides insight into Jesus' true essence as the anointed messiah. It serves as a powerful reminder that we have an advocate who intercedes on our behalf continuously. “Romans 8:34 says that Jesus “is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” In 1 John 2:1 we read that Jesus is our “advocate with the Father,” and from Hebrews 7:25 we learn that Jesus “always lives to intercede” for us.”

God's ultimate desire since the beginning is for us, His children, to be reborn through Christ and united with Him. Through His sacrifice, Jesus Christ justifies us before God, granting us access to His throne and the ability to lead righteous lives. By the power of Jesus' name, we can now live triumphantly and experience the abundance of God's Kingdom.

“I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!” John‬ ‭17‬:‭21‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Whenever I revisit this passage, a vivid image forms in my mind. His tranquil and caring demeanor brings solace to my soul. His presence invites me to find peace, as if I am seated at a table with Him, united in God's plan for His children to recognize their identity shaped in His image. Our true essence lies in Him as part of a royal priesthood, living in harmony. It is only through Christ and His sacrificial blood on the cross that we can approach the throne of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
